Maryland, May 13 - 22
We headed for Maryland looking forward to an easier few days. Here we have to thank Rob & Debbie and Brad & Margie for their hospitality. We spent a good part of the next 9 days in their homes.
| After the numerous short journeys between Williamsburg and Jamestown George had become accustomed to driving on 'the wrong side of the road' and took us very safely through the rest of the tour. | ||||
| First gig in MD was for the residents at Brooke Grove, Sandy Spring. This was our second visit to this splendid facility and here we must thank Corinthia for making it possible. | ||||
| Standing on the corner, watching all the girls go by! | ||||
| Whilst in the area we took a day off to visit Gettysburg and were moved by the devastating statistics of this battlefield. Another day was spent in Washington DC trying to catch sight of as many famous buildings and sites as we could. We did get to the Arlington National Cemetery, Union Station, the Ronald Regan Centre and took a walk along Pennsylvania Avenue. | ||||
| We found ourselves giving an impromptu concert for Brad & Margie and about twenty of their friends in their home one evening and had a wonderful time entertaining them with our speciality piece 'The Animal Quartett' with Debbie getting the enviable job of Narrator. | ||||
| George jumped at the opportunity to show that he could sing a 'mean' Baritone line. |
The next day we left for Williamsport via Harper's Ferry. Four years ago we visited this historic site and it rained most of the day. Guess what, this year it rained most of the day, too!
| We first visited Williamsport Retirement Village in 2003 and are very grateful to Tim Berry for his generous offer of accommodation on each of our visits. This year we must also thank Bev Henson for her welcome as we entertained in the Village. | ||||
| Once again we get to watch the girls do by! | ||||
| Finally, in Maryland we sang the morning service at the Hagerstown Zion United Church of Christ before an afternoon open air concert in the Municipal Park, Hagerstown arranged for us by Chris Copley of the Herald Mail. It was hot day (by UK standards) spent on a south facing stage. Thanks to the local Arts Association and the City Council for enabling the concert. | ||||
| We spent a very pleasant evening with Chris and his family |
We'd a plane to catch in Richmond, VA on Tuesday, May 22 so, on Monday, made our way via the scenic Shenandoah Skyline Drive.

Finally on to South Carolina or back to Virginia
