A little late, but - Happy New Year

Before you know it our next trip to the US will be over and done with. We feel we're short of one concert in our last week and are working hard at filling that slot. Ideally it will be midway between Waynesboro, VA and Hamden, CT. By the way, we had to give up on the idea of going up the east coast.

The two concerts listed on the last newsletter (Louth and Crowle) went very well (but we would say that, wouldn't we!). Following the success of our concert in Belton All Saints Primary School we've done another school concert, with one more to come before Easter (see upcoming schedule). Children of primary school age seem to get very little input of live music and are a delight to perform for. We thought about a gig at Scunthorpe's Screen Theatre before leaving England, as we did in 2001, but in the end decided against.

Spent Christmas in Tesco singing our 'pop' repertoire and Christmas Carols once again. Thanks to the management for their welcome and generous hospitality. That could well have been our last year if proposed government legislation on the performance of live music in public buildings comes into effect undiluted.

We have added a reworked version of the Beatles number 'I Will' and a new arrangement is 'If I Fell'. Hope to have 'Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat' sorted soon - just got to learn the words! All Jeff's arrangements with some additional words from Keith in 'Sit down'.

USA trip April 20 - May 10, 2003

Sorry that Ann Rook couldn't join us this year but we are thrilled to welcome Avis Tossell as accompanist. Avis has a great reputation as singer, pianist, conductor and accompanist. She will be making the whole of the trip with us along with her friend, Bill Wilson. Following on from the success of Tony Ellis (Keith's brother) appearing with us at Belton school where he played jazz on his guitar and a duet with Keith, we have invited him to join us at Williamsburg (Va) Library Theatre and hopefully at Waynesboro First Presbyterian Church. Tony conveniently lives midway between the two cities, in Richmond, Virginia.
