LAST 16th APRIL 2002

Newsletter

Following our return from the States we have eased up a little on our concert work, concentrating mainly on new repertoire.

Performances in this time have included the 'Gospel Challenge' a competition sponsored by GMTV (a British national breakfast television show). We were included in the northern region finals held in Manchester and we were seen and heard (albeit briefly) on television the following week.

We have sung at a 64th birthday party (a good excuse for Jeff to arrange the Lennon/McCartney hit 'When I'm Sixty Four' which continues to be included in our programmes), entertained the local Ex Servicemen's Association, guested for Scunthorpe Male Voice Choir, sung fundraising concerts and (one of our favourites), for the third year entertained in our local Tesco store at Christmas.

Sales of our CD continue to 'tick over' steadily. At the moment you are still able to order as many as you like!

Upcoming (April 21, 2002) we have been engaged to sing throughout the day at the 'Family Day' of the new Tesco Extra hypermarket opening in Scunthorpe for which occasion Keith has written some 'appropriate' words to Jeff's arrangement of our county song 'The Lincolnshire Poacher'.

We are close to booking time in Birdsong Studios for our next recording and this will take up the summer months. Along with '64' Jeff has arranged for us 'Blue Moon', 'Whiffenpoof Song' and that old comedy classic 'Life gits Tee-jus' which will feature Ed and his guitar backed by the three of us.

At the concert in Williamsburg, Virginia (May 2001) Jeff mentioned that his arrangement of 'Glocca Morra' was made with the Hi-lo's in his thoughts. This prompted a member of the audience, Glenn Pearce to make contact and he has armed us with several of his 'tribute to the Hi-lo's'' arrangements. Our concerts now include 'Catch a Falling Star' from Glenn's folio. Thanks Glenn!

Plans for the end of April/beginning of May, 2003 include a return to the US continuing up the east coast, firstly spending some time in Dahlonega, Georgia with good friends in that city. At this time South Carolina could play a part with return concerts in Georgetown and Myrtle Beach. We are keen to then make our way from Williamsburg, Va as far as Boston, Mass. Roger has a cousin in the New Haven area who we are hoping will be able to put us in touch with the 'right people' to arrange a concert. If you want further information re this trip or know of anyone interested in booking us in this time please contact us through info@fourum.co.uk

Please sign our Guest Book and let us know what you think of our new site or email us with comments through the above e address.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this lot!
